What Really Matters

Assuming that the world is about to end in 24 hours, what would you do with the time left? Money is no longer good for the most part, that is for certain. You could spend all your savings on a dream car and make luxury purchases you have previously refrained yourself from. But will the material gain make you a happier person? I seriously doubt so.

Counting down the last 24 hours, you may be struck with a truck load of things that you wish you would have done, shouldn’t have said and could have done better. Tell your parents how grateful you are, spend more time with your kids, let your partner know that he/she is perfect in every way, share your little brother’s excitement when he made it into the school’s football team, spend some time giving back to the community, call up that someone you wanted to apologize to…

Many of us have forgotten about our dreams and are too busy to allocate time for simple things that make our lives meaningful. In our chase to improve quantity of life, we have abandoned those that truly contribute to our quality of life.

If the world ends tomorrow, can you say that you have enjoyed life and have no regrets? Think about it and start living. Make a checklist of things that you should, could and would have done to make your life more meaningful. Fortunately, the world is not ending tomorrow and you have plenty of time to run through each item on your list 🙂
